Water, water, water, ...

Hello friends

Time flies, it’s unbelievable. This is already our second to last stop of our journey! Now we are in Finland and we’re loving it right here.

Finland is a Nordic country situated in the Fennoscandian region of Northern Europe. Some other countries of that special region are Norway and Sweden.  Finland has more than 5.4 million residents and it is the eighth largest country in Europe in terms of area. It is also the most sparsely populated country in Europe. Finland is also a parliamentary republic and it has a central government which is based in Helsinki which is also the capital of Finland.

Finland is also known as the country of thousands of lakes and we can vouch for that. We’ve seen a lot of them, but seeing them all isn’t realistic as there are over 188000 lakes. The biggest one of them all is the Saimaa. We have been there and since the weather was pretty good, we decided to have a swim in the lake. But brrrrrrr, so cold! We didn’t stay in the lake very long.

This country has also been ranked as one of the world’s most peaceful, competitive and livable countries and we don’t have a lot of trouble to believe this. The atmosphere here is great and the people are very friendly.

They also like music and especially opera and therefore there are a lot of music festivals held in Finland. Yearly they have a hundred of them and we were lucky to visit one. We stayed for one day at the Jazz Espoo and we enjoyed it a lot. We all appreciate jazz so we had a very relaxed day. What kind of blew our minds was that finish people like to do the tango. This was something that we didn’t expect but they were pretty good at it and of course we had to try it as well, but how this went is something we will keep for ourselves (yes, we sucked at it).

Thanks for reading our blog and feel free to leave a comment.

Week 11 Finland (in general)
