Wow, I
can't believe this is already the 10th week of our trip! This means it's nearly
over... But it's better not to think about that too much. I'm having the time
of my life, so I better enjoy it while it lasts!
Anyway,
this is Jens again, and today I'm going to write something about nature in our
third last stop, being Lithuania.
Nature in
Lithuania has been partially pushed away by industrialisation and urbanisation,
but a big part of the countries nature hasn't. Although I wasn't really
impressed by the nature in Lithuania, I kind of liked it. It's just very calm
and useful. Useful, because of the many different plants and animals living in
the country and in the National Parks.
Those
National Parks are protected by law, so they won't get transformed into
industry. In Aukstaitija (the Highlands) there are hills and chains of lakes
that are protected, and in Zemaitija (the Lowlands), there are hilly woodlands,
with a lake. This Park is protected because of the very diverse nature that can
be found there (especially the plants, who are very different from the plants
in the rest of the country). Then you also have the Trakai Historical national
Park, which is a place for people who are coming to fish or to camp, so it's
really quiet over there, which makes it a fantastic park for people who want to
relax a little.
And that's
what we're going to do now, just for a moment. I can use some rest for the
moment! It's been an extraordinary yet very tiring journey, so I think I'll
leave you here! We've got two more countries to go: Finland and Iceland! I'm
looking forward to it, especially to Iceland, and I hope you do so too!
See you
next time!
Jens
