Hi everybody,
As Matthias already said we left Turkey and
we’re in Finland at the moment. The difference between these countries is
immense. Turkey is known for its culture and especially for its mosques, and in
Finland it’s all about nature. Nature is definitely a key word when somebody is
talking about this country, because 65 percent of this country exists out of
forests and like you’ve read before there are about 188 000 lakes here.
Of course, Finland has a lot more to offer then its beautiful
nature, but my friends will talk to you about that in some following blog
posts. First of all I want to give you some extra general information about
this country. I think you all know that Finland is a member of the European
Union, and its capital is Helsinki. Nearly a fifth of Finland its population
are living in Helsinki. Their main language is Finnish, but because Finland was
a part of Sweden for about seven centuries, still 6 percent of the populations
talks Swedish.
A nice fact about Finland is that during
summer the sun doesn’t go down for ten weeks on a row, and during winter they
are living in darkness for about eight weeks.
So I think we’re all looking forward to see
some more beautiful things here in Finland, and we hope to see some reindeer as
well. I also found a place (www.theborderinn.com)
where we can discover Finland by dog sled, but I still have to ask my fellow
travelers if their up for it… But you’ll definitely here if we took the chance
to do this, because one of us will tell you more about our experiences this
week here in Finland!
Thanks for reading!
