Uzbeki... What?

Good morning my friends,

To be honest, I had never heard of Uzbekistan until a friend of mine suggested to go there during our trip. And since I love to discover new countries, I didn’t mind to go there! Before we took off I looked for some information about this country and I got interested in its extraordinary architecture. And that’s also what today’s post is about...

The architecture of Uzbekistan has been influenced by several architectural traditions such as the Islamic architecture, the Persian architecture and also the Russian architecture. In my point of view the most beautiful buildings can be found in Bukhara and Samarkand, both of them are well known cities of Uzbekistan. Samarkand is even the second largest city of this country. The largest one is of course Uzbekistan its capital Tashkent with about30 000 000 inhabitants. It’s also a very religious country so their mosques and praying houses are designed with special attention and especially the patterns on the buildings are really beautiful.
It’s pretty obvious that my favorite building was a mosque, and more specifically the “Tumurid Mosque”. We saw this mosque in Samarkand and it’s amazing. As you can see on this picture, this mosque is made with special care. The colors are blue and rather cold and the patterns are so precisely made, it’s unbelievable. We were really stunned when we saw this building. Everybody was wondering how long it would take to build something like this…
Now I’m very curious to know what your opinions are about these buildings. Or if you want to see some more pictures, just leave a comment and I’ll get back to you!
